The Mentor Jackets Program sponsors events throughout the year to provide opportunities for mentoring pairs to interact, learn from each other, and develop a sense of community around participants.

2013 - 2014 Mentor Jackets Kick-Off

The 2013-2014 Mentor Jackets program will kick-off another year of networking and professional development through mentoring on Thursday, October 10, 2013. The program will be streamed live on the internet for distance mentors and will be recorded and posted online for those mentor/mentee pairs who can not attend that day. More details about the speaker, activities, and online registration will be avaiable in September 2013.

Mentor Jackets will host alumni mentors and student mentees in November for a keynote speaker relating to leadership and networking. The event will be streamed live online for E-mentors and will be recorded and posted on gtmentorjackets.com for all those alumni mentors and student mentees who can not make it to the event.

MENTOR JACKETS END OF YEAR CELEBRATION

Mentors and mentees attended the annual End Of Year Celebration in the Student Center Ballroom. This year's celebration will included a seated dinner, a presentation from Georgia Tech's Vice President for Development, Barrett Carson, and a recognition program for outstanding alumni mentors.
SPEED NETWORKING
February 4, 2013 - 6:30 PM
On February 4, 2013 the Student Alumni Association and the Mentor Jackets program hosted the very popular Speed Networking event. Over 300 alumni and students came out to enjoy a night of fast-paced networking and discussion. Structured similar to speed dating events, participants have the opportunity to spend a few minutes talking with multiple alumni or students, respectively. Speed networking is a fun, exciting, and very efficient way for students and alumni to directly connect. During the evening, participants met with at least 6 other students or alumni in 10 minute rounds of discussion. At the conclusion of the structured portion of the event, alumni and students had the opportunity to continue their discussions at a reception with refreshments and hors d'oeuvres.
MENTOR JACKETS SPRING MIXER

Need some time with your Mentor Jackets partner? Want to get your mentoring realtionship up and running in 2013? Were you recently paired with your Mentor Jackets partner and need a chance to get acquainted? Come to the Mentor Jackets Spring Mixer on January 28 at 6:30 PM.
The Mentor Jackets Mixer was an informal and minimally structured networking and mentoring opportunity for local Atlanta participants in the Mentor Jackets program. Mentors and mentees were invited to attend the event together and take time have intentional mentoring conversations. Committee members and staff members from the Mentor Jackets program were available to answer questions and assist mentors and mentees.

Maximize Your Income!

While it definitely helps, it takes more than just a degree from Georgia Tech to make millions. SAA and the Mentor Jackets program welcomed Jimmy Trimble, MGT 91 and Director of Private Banking at Fidelity Bank on November 13, 2012. Mr. Trimble offered tips on how to get rich and become a millionaire from his experience providing loan and depository services for affluent and emerging affluent individuals and owner-managed businesses in the Atlanta area.
Note for E-Mentors! Audio from the How to Become a Millionaire: Maximize Your Income presentation was recorded and will be posted online for any Mentor Jackets participants who are outside of Atlanta or who could not attend in person. The recording will be posted soon.
Mentor Jackets Fall Kick-Off

The 2012-2013 Mentor Jackets program kicked off with a progressive event at the Georgia Tech Global Learning Center! The evening's program focused on providing mentors and mentees a framework for a successful mentoring partnerships and featured author, activist, mentor, entrepeneur, reknowned speaker and Tech alumnus Dr. Calvin Mackie! The evening opened with a "Fundamentals of Mentor Jackets" training session, followed by a semi-structured "Meet Your Mentor Jacket Partner" reception. Dr. Calvin Mackie will spoke at 7:00 PM, and the program will concluded with an alumni and student panel.

Georgia Tech and SAA Events
In addition to the four Mentor Jackets events, participants are encouraged to utilize and attend a variety of events on Tech's campus. Visit the Ferst Center for the Arts, attend a Yellow Jacket athletic event, or attend the Impact Speaker Series. E-mentoring pairs can view the Impact Speaker videos. Check the calendar often for upcoming campus events.
